Celebrating the Feast Day of St. Edmund of Abingdon, the Scholar Saint - November 16, 2025
Parishioners from our communities were invited to attend the 9:15 AM Mass at St. Edmund Church to celebrate the Feast Day of St. Edmund of Abingdon, one of our Patron Saints in the Oak Park Parish Communities. Everyone was also invited to enjoy a homemade brunch, St. Edmund (the man, the saint) Trivia, Tours of the Church, and crafts. Plus, games for children of all ages in the new Youth Ministry Annex on the St. Edmund Campus.
Interesting Facts about St. Edmund of Abingdon:
Born on November 20, 1175, the feast day of St. Edmund the Martyr, whom he was named after.
Educated at both Oxford and in Paris.
He taught Philosophy and Mathematics at Oxford.
He was one of the pioneers in the revival of the study of Greek and was the first to teach Aristotle at Oxford.
This is all before he turned his focus to Theology and became a priest.
