Youth and Adult Altar Servers at Ascension and St. Edmund Parish assist the priest at Mass and carry the cross and candles in procession. Adults and young people in fourth grade and older may serve at the altar.
Youth Servers at Ascension Masses (Sunday 8:00 AM and 10:30 AM)
Young people 4th-8th grade are invited to train as Altar Servers for Sunday Masses at Ascension.
All religious education students and Ascension school students may serve.
High school students are also invited to join the ministry.
Altar Servers are assigned to Masses based on their availability and Mass preferences. We ask ministers to serve one - two times a month.
Training for 4th - 8th graders is offered at regular intervals, usually in the Fall and early Spring.
Training for high school students is offered as needed.
Youth and Adult Servers at St. Edmund Masses (Saturday 5:00 PM and Sunday 9:15 AM)
Adults and young people 6th grade and older may serve at St. Edmund.
Altar Servers are assigned to Masses based on their availability and Mass preferences. We ask ministers to serve one - two times a month.
Training is offered as needed.
Youth and Adult Servers for the Sunday Night Mass (Sundays 5:00 PM at St. Edmund)
High school students and adults from BOTH Oak Park parishes may serve at the Catholic Communities of Oak Park Sunday Night Mass. Experienced 7th and 8th grade servers are also welcome.
Scheduling protocol for Sunday night ministers is currently in transition. Assignments are made manually at this time.
Training sessions for individuals and small groups are usually held (when requested) on Sundays at 4:00 PM at St. Edmund.
