The unified Ascension and St. Edmund Parish has traditionally organized an Advent almsgiving project to benefit those in need within our parish and surrounding communities. The annual Giving Trees are displayed in both of our churches during late November. Colorful donation envelopes hang on the trees for donors to take and return with monetary donations that will be used to purchase gift cards for various non-profit organizations and for parishioners in need. The organizations include Housing Forward, Sarah's Inn and A House in Austin. Parishioners who receive gift cards include seniors, veterans, single parents and domestic violence survivors.
During the Thanksgiving period, we consider our many blessings and generously share with those who struggle to meet their basic needs for food, shelter, medicine and clothing.
