The unified Ascension and St. Edmund Parish has traditionally organized an Advent almsgiving project to benefit those in need within our parish and surrounding communities. The annual Giving Trees are displayed in both of our churches during late November. Colorful donation envelopes hang on the trees for donors to take and return with monetary donations that will be used to purchase gift cards for various non-profit organizations and for parishioners in need. The organizations include Housing Forward, Sarah's Inn and A House in Austin. Parishioners who receive gift cards include seniors, veterans, single parents and domestic violence survivors - SEE INFORMATION OF THE GIVING TREE 2025 BELOW!
During the Thanksgiving period, we consider our many blessings and generously share with those who struggle to meet their basic needs for food, shelter, medicine and clothing.

Ascension and St. Edmund Advent Outreach Program - The Giving Tree 2025EXTENDED THRU WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 17
Our annual outreach program helps over 400 recipients at Christmas to be able to purchase food, medications, and other essentials. The need for food assistance is at the highest level this season. Your tax-deductible donation will be used to purchase gift cards for Jewel and Aldi, and to make monetary donations to nonprofit organizations who are addressing the needs of the most vulnerable. We also try to extend help to parishioners facing hardship.
This year your gift will make an impact with: Beyond Hunger, Catholic Charities Food Pantries, Housing Forward, The Neighborhood Bridge Essentials Pantry, and those served by St. Vincent de Paul.Ways to Participate
- Support in Person - Choose an envelope from the Giving Tree conveniently located at both churches. Return your donation by December 17. Drop it off at the office, place in offertory basket, or give to the program volunteer. The envelope is mostly intended to be a reminder.
- Support Online - Donate online by using the button below. The envelope is not necessary.
- Payment Methods - Cash, check (payable to “Ascension and St. Edmund” with “Giving Tree” on memo line) or credit card.
- Donating Physical Gift Cards - We purchase gift cards from corporate retailers to be assured of their value. If you wish to donate an actual gift card(s), thank you! Please include the activation receipt (if available) so that we can indicate the value.
