Peace and Justice - St. Catherine of Siena-St. Lucy and St. Giles Parish
The St. Catherine of Siena-St. Lucy and Giles Parish Peace and Justice Committees and the Family Mass Community Action For Justice group facilitate social justice activities in the community. Areas of focus include gun violence, immigration, care of the Earth, and racism. Monthly newsletters (linked below) highlight ways we can "Walk the Talk" for Catholic social teaching.
OMany ministries in the Catholic Communities of Oak Park and Neighbors are guided by the Principles of Catholic Social Justice Teaching. Click below for more information on the different groups:

Peace and Justice Renewal Retreat - September 26, 2026
Saturday, September 26 from 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM at St. Giles McDonough Hall
The Catholic Community of Oak Park is blessed with so many parishioners who give their time, talent, and hearts to outreach and service in our community. There are others in our churches who are looking for opportunities for involvement. This fall, we invite everyone involved in this work - or looking to engage in this sacred work - to pause, breathe, and be renewed and energized.
Join us for a morning of breakfast, prayer, and reflection led by Fr. Larry Dowling, centered on the call to social justice and the deeper meaning behind our outreach and sacred action in the name of Christ.
Together we'll reflect on how our thinking aligns with what Jesus has asked of us, how our words carry Christ's message into our daily lives, and how we live in love with those we serve, accompany, and work alongside on this shared journey toward justice.
Whether you serve on a ministry team, volunteer occasionally, or simply feel called to act - on your own or alongside others - this gathering is for you. Come be renewed, so you can return to your good work refreshed and re-energized.
We invite you to begin your morning with us at our 8:00 AM Mass at St. Giles before heading across the street for the retreat. Breakfast will be served.
