We are a cluster of co-creators from Saint Catherine of Siena-Saint Lucy and Saint Giles Parish and Saint Giles Family Mass Community who are committed to care and heal Earth, our home. Our efforts are inspired by Pope Francis’ Laudato Si’ (Praise Be). We work in collaboration with Ascension and Saint Edmund Parish’s H.O.M.E. Team to plan events for the Oak Park parishes.

Climate Care Conversation - October 1, 2026

Representative Rashid, the state representative for District 21, will share his interest in supporting environmental justice.
Join the discussion on Thursday, October 1, from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM in the conference room of the Gleeson Building on the Saint Giles campus.
The 21st District includes all or parts of Bedford Park, Berwyn, Bridgeview, Brookfield, Chicago (parts of the 23rd & 13th Wards), Cicero, Countryside, Hodgkins, Justice, La Grange, La Grange Park, North Riverside, Riverside, and Summit.
State Representative Abdelnasser Rashid serves the 21st House District. His legislative work has included protecting communities from harmful chemical exposure. He sponsored landmark legislation phasing out cancer-linked "forever chemicals" (PFAS) from consumer products, which earned him the 2025 Milestone Achievement Award from the Illinois Environmental Council. He also advanced legislation creating the PFAS Wastewater Citizen Protection Committee to safeguard Illinois' water supply from long-lasting toxic chemicals.
He will highlight the environmental justice issues he's championed in Springfield - including chemical contamination in water and consumer products, and the push toward cleaner energy alternatives. Questions are encouraged.
