Vine and Branches Ministry - Rooted in Creation - Reaching for the Future
We are a cluster of co-creators from Saint Catherine of Siena-Saint Lucy and Saint Giles Parish and Saint Giles Family Mass Community who are committed to care and heal Earth, our home. Our efforts are inspired by Pope Francis’ Laudato Si’ (Praise Be). We work in collaboration with Ascension and Saint Edmund Parish’s H.O.M.E. Team to plan events for the Oak Park parishes.

Creation Care Covenant - During Spring and Summer

At St. Catherine of Siena-St. Lucy and St. Giles Parish
On Sunday, May 3, at 10:30 AM, the St. Catherine of Siena-St. Lucy and St. Giles Parish celebrated the Creation Mass to honor our commitment to climate care. Students from both Saint Giles and Saint Catherine of Siena-Saint Lucy schools, along with children from our Family Mass Community, decorated the church with artwork and participated as lectors. Everyone was invited to sign the Creation Care Covenant before and after Mass.
DURING SPRING AND SUMMER - The Creation Care Covenant is waiting for your signature to confirm your commitment to make a difference in protecting Earth! - The Covenant and sign-up sheets are in the back of the church and will be available throughout the summer. The Creation Liturgy shared the special Mass with our Twenty-Two First Communicants - May 3, 2026What a wonderful way to honor Creation with many happy children and families who came to the Eucharistic table to share in our heritage as followers of Jesus.
Sister Sue gave a brief explanation of the Creation Care Covenant at the end of Mass. Over 20 people signed the Covenant. That was encouraging since many people at the Mass were out-of-town guests. The Covenant will be at the back of the church throughout the summer for signing. The 4 commitments are Prayer, Reduce Plastic Use, One main Meatless Meal a week, and Buy Locally. The Family Mass Community also had signers and will continue to have the opportunity to sign on.
