Throughout Jesus’ ministry and teaching, He personified the principles and practices of hospitality. As members of the St. Catherine of Siena-St. Lucy and St. Giles Parish Welcoming Ministry, we reflect Jesus’ reaching out to make all feel cared for and welcomed. We prayerfully and respectfully assist the faithful to feel welcomed and know they are part of the body of Christ when they celebrate the Mass.
Mother Teresa once said "Holiness does not consist in doing extraordinary things. It consists in accepting with a smile, what Jesus sends us. It consists in accepting and following the will of God". Offering a smile, a handshake or a warm greeting allows us to greet Jesus in each parishioner we come in contact with.
Greeters - Greeters serve as welcoming ministers before Mass on Saturdays and Sundays, offering a smile and fellowship to all entering the Church. For more information or to volunteer to help, please contact Julie Denise at (312) 504-6187 or [email protected].
Greeters are parishioners who:
Open doors, smile and greet all who come to Mass.
Work with the Ushers and Hospitality ministers to ensure that each person who enters feels as comfortable and at home as possible
Have a loving heart and a welcoming spirit.
Hospitality Ministers - Our Hospitality Ministry provides a warm, inviting space for fellowship after all the masses once a month. We provide snacks, coffee, and juice, and warm smiles on Hospitality Weekends, and volunteers provide baked or bought treats and/or help with serving or cleanup. For more information or to volunteer to join our ministry, please contact Maria Samatas at [email protected].
