The Ascension and St. Edmund 50+ Social Club is an organization for parishioners ages 50 and over. The group is primarily focused on providing social activities, allowing participants to form new friendships and expand their horizons through social, spiritual, and service activities. Events organized by the 50+ Social Club are open to all parishioners.
Meetings - Most months, meetings are on the 3rd Wednesday at 2:00 PM in St. Edmund’s Murphy Hall. There are exceptions. Meetings are also announced in the bulletin.

Take a 2.5 hour bus tour, leaving from FitzGerald’s (6615 Roosevelt Rd, Berwyn), to learn about gangster history in Oak Park and River Forest. John Binder, organized crime historian and author of The Chicago Outfit and Al Capone’s Beer Wars, is the guide. This exterior tour visits 13 houses which were once owned by major Chicago hoodlums, including Tony Accardo, Paul Ricca, Sam Giancana, “Tough Tony” Capezio, and “Machine Gun” Jack McGurn. John will discuss the former owners’ careers, the family’s time there, the interesting features of each home (10 of which he has been in), including secret tunnels and hidden rooms, and answer questions.
