The Ascension and St. Edmund 50+ Social Club is an organization for parishioners ages 50 and over. The group is primarily focused on providing social activities, allowing participants to form new friendships and expand their horizons through social, spiritual, and service activities. Events organized by the 50+ Social Club are open to all parishioners.
Meetings - Most months, meetings are on the 3rd Wednesday at 2:00 PM in St. Edmund’s Murphy Hall. There are exceptions. Meetings are also announced in the bulletin.

Theater Outing - "Ms. Holmes and Ms. Watson - Apt. 2B" - November 14, 2025

Join the 50+ Social Club for the show on Friday, November 14 at 7:30 PM at Dominican University Martin Recital Hall and an optional pre-show dinner (your cost) at 5:00 PM at Jim & Pete’s. This is a modern-day adventure with the most iconic detective duo of all time reimagined as a gal-pal comedy. Set in present day London, American divorcee Ms. Joan Watson moves in with the eccentric Ms. Sherlock Holmes, only to find themselves entangled in a series of mysteries, all related to a cunning supervillain who remains one step ahead of them. The play is a celebration of resilience, curiosity, and the enduring power of human connection.

Ballet Outing - "The Nutcracker" - December 7, 2025

This is a Ballet Légere’s 40th Anniversary Production of "The Nutcracker" - Join us on December 7 at 12:00 PM for the show at Dominican University Performing Arts Center with an optional post show lunch (your cost) at Jim & Pete’s.
Email the 50+ club at [email protected] by November 30th if you plan to join us for lunch.
Tickets in the premium section are $45 for Adults and $40 for Seniors and Children under 12. If you’re interested in attending The Nutcracker and want to sit with the group, please email Bonnie Edwalds at [email protected] to make arrangements for payment by Sunday, October 26th. Payment may be made by check, cash, or Zelle.

Theater Outing - "Sister Act" - January 7, 2026

Join us on Wednesday, January 7, at 1:30 PM for our next theater outing, "Sister Act", at Drury Lane Theatre, Oakbrook Terrace. Tickets are $45 each. Transportation will be on your own, although some carpooling may be available. The deadline to purchase tickets is December 7 or until all tickets are sold.
To reserve your ticket, please drop your payment off at the McGivern Center or Ascension Parish Center, or give it to Bonnie Edwalds by December 7. Checks should be made out to Ascension and St. Edmund Parish, with “Sister Act” written on the memo line. Please put your check in an envelope along with your name, email address, and phone number. Put “Bonnie Edwalds / Sister Act” on the outside of the envelope. You will get a confirmation email approximately a week after payment.
