The Two Oak Park Parishes Celebrated One Easter Vigil Together - April 4, 2026
In the darkness of the Easter Vigil on April 4, 2026, light broke forth again as the "Ascension and Saint Edmund" Parish and the "Saint Catherine of Siena-Saint Lucy and Saint Giles" Parish came together to proclaim the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ in one Easter Vigil at Saint Giles Church.
Easter Vigil is the "mother of all vigils" and the most important, solemn liturgy of the Catholic year, held on Holy Saturday night to celebrate Christ’s Resurrection. It was at this one Easter Vigil 2026 when eighteen (18) catechumens (unbaptized) and candidates (baptized) in our community received their Sacraments of Initiation: Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist (First Communion).
