Thank You for the Support for the Ascension and St. Edmund Parish Gardens - May 2026
BULLETIN UPDATE ON MAY 24, 2026 - The Susan Fleming Garden Update - Early-season crops have done very well through this colder-than-usual spring. Our radishes, turnips, spinach, lettuce, chard, collards, and mustard greens have all been productive. Just look at the big box of harvested mustard greens Clem is carrying. Fresh produce donations may be dropped off on Tuesdays at 5:30 PM at the garden behind the Ascension Parish Center. Please consider helping out in the garden on Tuesdays, as well.
BULLETIN UPDATE ON MAY 17, 2026 - The Third Day Gardeners were busy planting last week. It will be a while before they see the harvest, but the hoses are out, and the watering has begun. The okra plants won't be in until it's warmer. Meanwhile, at the Ascension Garden, the gardeners harvested leeks, collards, turnips, and radishes from the beds. Carrots, lettuce, and potatoes were also donated. Fresh produce donations may be dropped off on Tuesdays at 5:30 PM at the garden behind the Ascension Parish Center. On Wednesday morning, donations are delivered to the St. Simon of Cyrene Food Pantry. On Monday late afternoon (May 11, 2026), a red fox paid a visit to the Ascension garden.
