Thank You for the Support for the Ascension and St. Edmund Parish Gardens - June 2026

BULLETIN UPDATE ON JUNE 28, 2026 - Ascension Susan Fleming Garden Update - We are transitioning to our next crops. Pepper plants are growing and flowering. Beans are sprouting. Okra buds are appearing. Tomato plants are poised to lift themselves up our bed cages. We are looking forward to larger harvests in the coming weeks, but for now, we are making do with meager harvests and few donations.

Please share your abundance with the food pantry of our west side sharing parish, St. Simon of Cyrene by donating on Tuesdays at 5:30 PM to the garden behind the Ascension Parish Center. Please consider helping out in the garden on Tuesdays, as well. Even if you can’t participate, please take a few minutes to stroll through the Community Garden and Native Garden alongside the south fence.

BULLETIN UPDATE ON JUNE 21, 2026 - The Small but Mighty Vacation Bible School students drew pictures for the mural on the Third Day Garden wall at St. Edmund. As you can see, the mural will be filled with flowers and bugs. It's a mighty beginning to the mural that will be painted this summer.

Fresh produce donations may be dropped off on Tuesdays at 5:30 PM to the garden behind the Ascension Parish Center. Please consider helping out in the garden on Tuesdays, as well. Even if you can’t participate, please take a few minutes to stroll through the Community Garden and Native Garden alongside the south fence.

BULLETIN UPDATE ON JUNE 14, 2026 - Early season crops have continued to do very well through this spring. Our radishes, turnips, spinach, lettuce, chard, collards and mustard greens have all been productive. This week’s turnip bed yield was over 25 pounds!

BULLETIN UPDATE ON JUNE 7, 2026 - Students from Trinity High School had a work session at the Third Day Garden on Memorial Day. They planted okra, did some clean up, and built a new garden bench. We ended the afternoon with reflection, a prayer, and some pretzels from Fr. Dave. Fresh produce donations may be dropped off on Tuesdays at 5:30 PM to the garden behind the Ascension Parish Center.
