We are already working on our Christmas Card Project. The Christmas cards we send mean so much to the people in custody who receive them. A simple card lets them know they are not forgotten. A collection box marked "Companions Journeying Together" will be at the courtyard exit of Ascension Church by the sacristy.
October is designated as the month of Respect Life, of the Holy Rosary and of Domestic Violence Awareness. At Ascension and St. Edmund Parish, we offer resources for praying the rosary, domestic violence prevention and also a toiletries collection for Sarah's Inn (container in the back of church).
Community Shared Event - We continue to ask our Blessed Mother to help us during these difficult times the world is experiencing. On the second Saturday of the month, the Knights pray the rosary at 8:00 to 8:30 AM at Ascension Campus. Also, the rosary is prayed at 8:00 AM before daily Mass.
Ongoing Invitation to Support - Since the installation of the LISTENWIFI assistive listening system in the Churches, more and more parishioners have begun using the app and are finding it helpful... We completed an evaluation of our overall sound systems at both Churches... If you are interested in lending your support to the Sound System Project, please contact David Anderson in the coming weeks.
Sponsorships, tickets and donations are now available for the Ascension School Thanks-for-Giving Auction. The event will take place on Saturday, November 15 in the Ascension School Gym. Ages 21 and over.
The St. Catherine of Siena-St. Lucy and St. Giles Appalachia Service Project (ASP) invites Teens and Adults to register to spend a week in July 2026 on a Mission Trip, working to inspire hope through service making homes warmer, safer, and drier for the people of Appalachia - It is a service project built on relationships!
Donate your CLEAN, GENTLY USED coats and/or NEW coats, hats, gloves, socks, and underwear (in original packaging) from October 11 thru November 9 and leave items in the bin in the Ascension Church Vestibule or donate in person before Sunday Mass on October 26 at Ascension Church. Monetary donations are also accepted.

It is time to get ready for the FORTY-THIRD running of the Turkeys to once again celebrate and gather on Thanksgiving morning... All parishioners are invited to sign up to run, to volunteer or to donate for our SGFMC Turkey Trot... Proceeds will go to: Companions Journeying Together Inc., Aunt Mary’s Story Book prison ministry, and The Neighborhood Bridge.

Children's Liturgy of the Word takes place on the second and fourth Sundays of the month at the 10:30 AM Mass at Ascension Church. Leaders who guide our weekly Children's Liturgy of the Word provide children ages 4-8 an opportunity to experience the Liturgy of the Word in a context more suited to their age and experience.
