Pivoting Again - As Father Carl announced last weekend, it is not possible to retain the Saint Edmund School building, so Migrant Ministry has been asked to pivot once again; change direction. The Migrant Ministry Advisory Committee has decided that Thursday, October 9, will be the final day for the Tuesday-Thursday Migrant Ministry Mornings. We are currently seeking places that might house this amazing program moving forward. Closing early in the fall will give us the time to pack up and move all the clothing and furniture before it becomes too cold inside of the building.
We have seen the needs of the migrants changing over the past few months and expect that, although winter clothing may still be needed, other items may not. We have also noted a shift to a need for more services such as Immigration Support Services, which will be moving across the street to Murphy Hall in early September. Mental health services, job training, and language programs are also becoming higher priorities, so pivoting will become our motto over the next several weeks!
We are developing a schedule for continuing donations to the program, as there are some items that we will continue to need. However, we anticipate a significant reduction in donations needed, so guidelines are being developed along with the donation schedule to determine how the Migrant Ministry will move forward in assisting our migrant brothers and sisters.
Our work would not be possible without the volunteers and your generous donations.
Please continue to pray for our beloved migrant brothers and sisters.
