Our Unsung Heroes - An operation as large as the Migrant Ministry requires a lot of volunteers. We are blessed with over 250 active volunteers and others who help when they can. About 35 volunteers are needed for the services we provide every Tuesday morning at Centro San Bernardino, and there are over 50 mentors and mentor helpers who accompany the 27 families we have helped resettle. These volunteers feel the joy and satisfaction of interacting with and helping our migrant brothers and sisters.

But our ministry would not be possible without OUR UNSUNG HEROES! The volunteers who do all the behind-the-scenes work, never actually interacting with migrants but showing up regularly, every week, to do the backend work that powers our ministry. These are the sorters who go through the many bags and boxes of donations every Monday morning and take some of the items home to wash and mend. The volunteers who scour the thrift shops and Facebook marketplace for needed items, and those who drop off food every week for the migrant breakfast. The volunteers who mop the floor and empty the trash at the end of a Ministry morning and show up with short notice to help unload a particularly large donation.

We honor the volunteers who investigate and evaluate apartments for newly arrived migrant families requiring support, and then gather furniture and household items to establish their new home. We pay tribute to the volunteer who monitors the due dates for rent and ensures that payments are made on time.

Thank you for your support of the Migrant Ministry. Donations are accepted on Mondays from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the former St. Bernardine School, 815 Elgin in Forest Park. We are only accepting spring and summer clothing now, BUT STILL HAVE A GREAT NEED FOR BLANKETS, SHEETS, AND TOWELS!
