Jobs - As the weather improves, we are starting to get requests for help from the migrants with a variety of cleanup activities, from yard work, gardening, basement cleanup, house cleaning, or packing to move to a new location. Our migrant families are eager to take on those tasks. Let us know what help you need and we will find someone to do the task. We do ask for a reasonable wage plus transportation costs.
Migrant Ministry volunteers are amazed at the willingness of our migrant families to take the most menial jobs to earn money to feed their families. We see people trained as lawyers, doctors, even a dentist in their own country willing to pull weeds or move furniture. We wonder if we would be this willing if the situation was reversed. Many of our migrants are skilled with automobiles, have painted inside and out, did some construction and even a few chefs.
If you need help with gardening, cleaning out your basement or attic, or any of those things listed, please send us a note through [email protected]. We will make the arrangements.
We also have migrants looking for full-time work. They have work permits and many of the same skills described above. Thank you for considering supporting migrants.
Donations are accepted Monday mornings from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the former Saint Bernardine School, 815 Elgin in Forest Park. Light-weight clothing, shoes, jackets, and bedding donations are accepted.
